What is a Class Action Lawsuit?
A class action lawsuit combines a large number of people together who all seek an interest in bringing an action against a mutual person or company. Class action lawsuits generally occur to compensate groups of claimants who have each suffered similar injuries and losses.
Once a class is certified, the class members are given a chance to opt out of joining in the class. It is important to note that once opted in, members cannot also seek remedy from the defendants individually.
